Path of Exile is a massive poe currency game to attempt to comprehend. There's still heaps of systems I do not know and a list full of items I don't quite know how to use. But it's rekindled the power fantasy that ARPGs have fundamentally been around. One that, for me, has mostly remained dormant because those sleepless nights playing Diablo 2.
Path of Exile has seven playable characters, though only six are initially unlockable. The seventh, the Scion, can be permanently unlocked by rescuing her from a cage in the Upper Scepter of God area of Act 3.
Duelist: He also fights with melee attacks and may also summon an AI minion to fight alongside him. Templar: Fires projectiles, including three chunks of lightning at the same time and a series lightning attack. Witch: A feminine spellcaster with higher intellect. Ranger: She uses a bow and can be extremely dexterous, but might wield swords too. Shadow: A dexterous and smart fighter, he uses short-range weapons and traps during battle. Scion: She can grow into any character build thanks to Path of Exile's skill system.
Picking your first character is important, but not as big a deal as in other Diablo-style buy poe chaos orbs games. Path of Exile provides a remarkably high number of character slots, so you can play and change between all seven types if you choose. Additionally, the time-limited nature of leagues (which we'll explain below) and the odds that you may unwittingly create a faulty character build the first time you play all mean that you'll most likely be generating new characters before too long anyhow.
